Hello,

I am using a qwertz keyboard and would like to change the idle vil hotkey to the "<>" key.
Unfortunately the support team was not able to help with this.

Does anyone have any idea on how this might work?

This is how I do it:

- Host a room on Voobly, click on second tab "Game", then use the option " Start at single player menu".
- Launch the game in Voobly room, you should see the window Single player, multi player, history, options, etc.
- Click on Options.
- If you don't see a Player name, add any player name.
- Click on hotkeys button and change them how you want them to be.
When finished, test it in a real game, the hotkeys should still be like you want them.

This is for cd version, for HD Steam it's similar

Another way to do it is launch aoc offline as administrator, make a profile if there isn't one, and change hotkeys like you want it, but I never do that.

The problem is that the game doesnt accept the <> key as a hotkey somehow

I just searched for it, Qwertz keyboards are used in Germany, and you find the < and > buttons like this:

But, I have Qwerty keyboard, and I also have same button, same button is used on my keyboard for \ and |.
I can't use that button also.

I suppose the reason is because not all keyboards have this button, nothing we can do about this I guess. Maybe those guys who are working on the userpacks can fix this problem, no idea to be honest...

The version is already selected on 5.0+.

Just click on Generate hki File, put it in your AoC folder (or if you have Age2HD, then put it in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Age2HD\Profiles) and rename it to player1.hki.

I'm not sure if I understand correctly:
I replace all current files in the folder with this one? Or do I just add it?

And do I need to put all hot keys in there or only the <> one and the rest i can change normally in game?

Just click on Generate hki File, (Add it) put it in your AoC folder if your using original AoK+AoC Setup
Or if your using HD Version put it into C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Age2HD\Profiles) and rename it to player1.hki. Just only add the <> you don't need to replace anything or put all.

I did that and nothing changed.
Neither the hotkey nor the possibility to change it ingame...

and i have it as player1.hki without the . at the end (player1.hki.)
if I add the . it says the file is unusable

The hotkey file needs to go into the Age2HD folder directly, not the profiles folder (That's for the hotkeys used on steam). You should probably already have a player1.hki file there, replace that.

I put it now directly in the Age2 folder (Steam\steamapps\common\Age2HD)
it is the only hki file in there and it is still not working

if it was successfull should I be able to change the hotkeys?
or is it then directly changed?

can i leave all the hki files in the folder profiles untouched?

Try starting the game (AoC, without mods) in single player, then changing a few hotkeys. This should generate a .hki file in the Age2HD folder (check the last modified date). This is the one you need to replace if it didn't work with player1.hki

The .hki files in the profile folder are not relevant for Voobly, just for Steam.
